Ski Areas: Les Grands Montets

Located above the mountain village of Argentière, Les Grands Montets contains the most challenging skiing in the valley. There are few easy runs here - this is for experts and strong intermediates . Piste highlights include Point de vue (with unrivalled views of the Argentière glacier basin) and Les Pylônes (long, steep and thigh burning) both reached from the top of the Grand Montets lift. There is a café and terrace for interested observers.Mogul lovers will enjoy Chamois and Variante Hôtel.

Off piste skiing in this area is endless and what the Grand Montets is famous for. Most of this is on glaciers and a guide is recommended.

A good meeting and eating place is the Plan Joran - pizza at the bar, salads and hot meals in the self service and very nice kir and canapés in the formal restaurant.
